The Pink Charity Run 2014

Today, 28/9/2014, is the first time I joined The Pink Charity Run 2014 & my 2nd 5km marathon of the year. The Pink Charity Run is organized by Pantai Hospital in support and awareness of breast cancer.

I started my day at 5.30am with 5 tablets of Alfalfa Complex, 1 tablet of Sustained Release Vita-C & 1 tablet of Zinc Complex. Well, this is my normal morning supplement routine anyway for detox & strengthening my immune system. I learned the hard way in my 1st ever marathon last year that you don’t run when you just ate 2 hours before. It will give you heartburn which really hurts.

So in order not to run on empty stomach too, but not wanting to eat something 1 1/2 hour before the race, the best option for me is Mealshake & ESP – Soy Protein Isolate Powder. My favourite source of protein shakes to energize the body so early in the morning for the race. I just mix few spoonful of both powder in a shaker & shake!

As a preparation to hydrate myself during the race, I also prepared my special marathon drinks – Performance Orange mix with Cinch Tea Mix. Performance Orange is known to hydrate the body faster than the usual isotonic drinks and taste less sweet. It is used by American athletes to make world record! Cinch Tea Mix is a drink that helps to increase your metabolism. I really need it as I was quite sleepy! Haha.

After Subuh at 5.50am I drove from Sg Buloh to Setia Alam in Klang. When I reach there around 6.30am, the road leading to the Setia Welcoming Centre, the starting point of the race, was already full of cars! I had to detour & parked 500m away from the Centre. At 6.45am while I was still walking towards the Starting Line, the organizer let off the 12km run participant. My 5km run started at 7am.

I mostly walk all the way with some small jogs here and there. I saw everyone did the same anyway. Haha. Well, it is more of a family event than a professional race. With running, it doesn’t what age you are, it’s never too late to start. And here I am, a 35 year old, obese woman just starting to run walking is more like it.

I finishes my race in 1 hour 2 minutes. A normal time for walking 5km. I didn’t even stop to have a drink at the water station. My Performance Orange & Cinch Tea Mix kept me going. My legs did felt at one point it wanted to stop but I focus my mind ahead and keep saying, “You’re going to finish it. Just keep going!” And finish I did.

Yeay! And I got a medal too. You know, those medals that you get in a race is what kept me going. After the race I watched all the the top 10 winners received their trophy. The top 5 received a watch sponsored by Seiko. The veterans run quite fast too! I’m in awe of them as I can’t run properly yet & I’m much younger.

Tonigh I need to take my other supplement, Ostematrix, which will help to relax the muscle. This will lessen the muscle sore which I normally experience the day after the race. What can I say, I seldom exercise & my muscle are not used to running. But Ostematrix really helps a lot because sore muscle is what puts me off when I want to exercise.

Overall, I had a wondeful day. I have 2 more marathons to go for this year which is Putrajaya Night Marathon on 11/10/2014 and Standard Chartered KL Marathon on 12/10/2014. A back to back race
Oh my! What have I got myself into??

4 Langkah Atasi Anxiety

Assalamualaikum,

Kepada sesiapa yang ada anxiety & ingin mencuba supplemen sebagai alternatif selain ubat doktor, ada 4 langkah utama:

LANGKAH 1:

Please ye, B-Complex JANGAN SEKALI-KALI LUPA.

B-Complex harus diambil setiap hari. Jangan tinggal walaupun sehari. Ini adalah kerana vitamin B12 dalam B-Complex berfungsi memastikan mood & hormon kita dalam keadaan seimbang. Kekurangan B12 akan menyebabkan kita mudah berasa tertekan. Kebanyakan makanan sihat ada vitamin B-Complex tetapi orang yang tertekan, anxiety kurang nak cari makanan yang menyihatkan lantas badan mereka terus kekurangan vitamin B-Complex.

LANGKAH 2:

Jangan lupa omega-3 dalam diet anda. Lemak Omega-3 didapati boleh mengurangkan risiko penyakit jantung. Ia juga berperanan penting dalam merawat anxiety & kemurungan. Menurut kajian tahun 1988 yang dipaparkan dalam Lancet, orang yang banyak ikan yang ada lemak omega-3 didapati kurang menghidapi kemurungan.

Shaklee ada Omega Guard iaitu supplemen omega-3 terbaik yang dihasilkan untuk penggunaan kita.

LANGKAH 3:

Kombinasi supplemen magnesium & kalsium jangan lupa diambil setiap hari. Kekurangan magnesium boleh menjurus kita ke keadaan anxiety & kemurungan. Magnesium harus diambil bersama kalsium dalam ratio 1 : 3.5,  kerana ketidak seimbangan akan menyebabkan salah satu tidak berkesan.

Anxiety Ni Macam Mana Eh?

Mari saya ganbarkan anxiety tu macam mana.

Mula-mula ia adalah perasaan stress pada sesuatu – kerja, keluarga, kehidupan. Bila lama sangat hadapi stress, badan & minda kita akan terbiasa dengan keadaan stress tu. Jadi bila punca stress tu dah takde, minda kita tak boleh nak “back to normal” sebab kita dah “terbiasa” dalam keadaan stress. Macam dah “rosak” minda kita ni. Perasan tak, kalau getah kita regang banyak-banyak kali, lama-lama dia akan kendur & tak tegang semula? Macam itulah perumpamaan anxiety ni.

Anxiety ni adalah “fear of fear”. Jadi takut pada perasaan takut tu.

Takut tak boleh handle sesuatu kerja. Then minda kita akan buat kita ‘takut’ pada ‘takut tak boleh handle kerja’ tu. Bila dah takut pada takut, memang tak buat la jawabnya sebab takde motivasi. Dan cycle ni adalah sangat sukar untuk dipecahkan melainkan ada bantuan.

Bila duduk sorang-sorang, kita akan sentiasa berfikir macam gambarajah di bawah ni. Sudahnya kita tak boleh nak buat kerja apa pun, kerana “fear of fear”.

Shaklee Difference

Since joining my Shaklee business last year, the effect it had on me had been slow & steady & growing. I did not think that I’d be at this level today if it’s not for the fact that I ‘reluctantly’ join Shaklee. I say ‘reluctantly’ because I had no clear idea why I wanted to join the Shaklee family, although I’m an ardent user of their products.

Making Shaklee as a business, we must have a clear goal why we wanted it. For me it was not about the money. It’s about sharing the joy I enjoyed while using their product. I had my ups & down in sharing the benefits of Shaklee as my intention at that time was of course making money. I wanted so badly for people to buy from me. I upload photos on Instagram, FB page, this blog & any online medium that I could use, but it got me nowhere. I was really, really frustrated until the point it got me thinking, “Why am I doing this?”.

It was a soulsearching journey for the past year. I had to do some introspective. I had to look deep into my heart why I wanted to do this. To tell the truth, although I’m happy using Shaklee products, I was not happy with me handling the business aspect of Shaklee. I was really demotivated by others success. Not that I’m jealous, but I feel like I have to measure up to them, when in fact I’m a totally different person. I work best when alone & not seeing others success all the time, in FB timeline that is. Once in a while its ok, as I need some measurement of where I am in my journey to success.

Anyway, I’m happy now sharing the Shaklee Effect with you. I notice some change in my attitude, my habit & my thinking. I now don’t like mindless idle talk, negative talk, negative postings on my FB timeline (that’s why I seldom log in now), pondering on problems instead of focusing on the solution & spending time doing nothing. Even now, while my TV is switched on, I’m actually focusing in updating this blog (I need noise to stimulate my brain).

I now wake up early in the morning & be in the office so early which was the opposite previously. I don’t focus on complaining about everything now as I’m more content in being calm & believe that everything is good. Indeed it will, if you will it to be!

I now feel the joy of sharing my experience with other anxiety sufferers. That’s the reason why this blog was set up in the first place. It makes me happy when strangers contact me just to talk or share about their anxiety because I feel in Malaysia, this is one of the psychological problem that we don’t discuss about openly because in Asian culture you don’t really talk about it. I know that some of my readers out there is suffering alone. I’ve been there. But don’t worry, I’m here to lend an ear & share with you my experience.

I believe that with supplements & exercise, anxiety can be controlles. For those on medication for anxiety, you better ask your Doctors first.

Of Marathon: My New Like

Assalamualaikum,

I’m quite new with all this marathon/walkathon thingy. In fact just under a year. I started joining my first ever marathon in Putrajaya, Malaysia by accident at the persuasion of my brother who runs every day. It was night marathon & I join the 5km fun run route. I walked rather than run all the way. My brother joined the half-marathon that night.

Since then I’ve joined 2 more marathon & walkathon. All 5km route. This month I’ll be joining the Pink Charity Run on 28/9/2014, also a 5km run & next month in October after Raya Haji, I’ll be joining my 2nd 5km Putrajaya Night Marathon on 11/10/2014. The next morning on 12/10/2014 I’ll be joining Standard Chartered KL Marathon also a 5km route. My brother commented on my Instagram, “5km je?” (5km only?), well at least I’m starting somewhere aren’t I? For someone who never runs all her life, this is quite challenging! Anyway, my 2 brothers will be joining the Putrajaya Night Marathon too but theirs will be the Half Marathon & Full Marathon. My best friend who will be joining for the 1st time too will take part in the 5km run! Yeay, I’m happy :):)

The race kit for Putrajaya Night Marathon is already here. Can’t wait to run this time, as you may have read my past entry regarding last year marathon that I suffered from heart burn due to my own mistake!

This year I’m going to take care of my diet properly.

First thing, when I feel hungry 2-3hours before the race, I’ll take Cinch Shake Mix & ESP mix with yoghurt drink so that I’ll feel full much longer.

During the race, rather than drink the isotonic drinks provided at the 2.5km check point, I’ll just drink Performance Orange to dehydrate as it is well known to be used amongst athletes in the US. If you’ve tasted Performance you’ll find that it is not as sweet tasting as the other isotonic drink. Plus, Performance can reduce muscle ache & cramps after the marathon

Before sleep, I need to take Ostematrix so that I will not have sore muscle, which is a normal occurence for someone who doesn’t run that much. Plus I have another marathon the next morning (Oh! What have I got myself into?!)

Benda Baru

Assalamualaikum,

Apa khabar semua? Rindu saya tak? Hehe.
Hari ni saya nak cerita pasal benda baru.

Shaklee ni adalah benda baru bagi saya. Sebelum ni tak kenal supplemen tu apa, bagaimana nak makan, perlu ke supplemen ni. Bila jadi satu peristiwa yang tak dijangka dalam hidup saya, barulah terbuka luas apa itu Shaklee & supplemen.

Saya dah start makan & nampak keberkesanannya yang amat baik pada kesihatan mental saya, maka saya fikir kenapa tidak saya kongsikan dengan orang lain. Jadi saya daftar sebagai Shaklee Independent Distributor. SID in short. Mulalah hidup saya sebagai usahawan. Cewah!

Sebelum berniaga nampak dunia usahawan macam senang je. Dah mula berniaga, baru tau susaj sebenarnya. Benda baru kan. Saya pula jenis banyak fikir negatif, jadi nak tukar ‘mindset’ agak sukar. Sangat-sangat sukar. Pemikiran negatif telah bersarang bertahun-tahun dalam diri saya sampai jadi ‘anxiety’.

Mula berniaga Shaklee ni telah membawa saya ke alam perubahan diri, motivasi & pemikiran. Ia proses yang sangat lama untuk mengikis kerak pesimis. Tapi saya tak putus asa. Saya terap habit baru dalam hidup saya. Dan saya terasa perubahan pada motivasi saya. Saya lebih positif. Benda-benda mudah je yang saya lakukan:

1. Solat Dhuha
2. Selawat
3. Istighfar
4. Bangun awal.
5. Masuk ofis awal

Alhamdulillah, walaupun setahun lebih saya jalani proses memotivasikan diri, saya gembira walaupun belum mencapai tahap seperti ahli kumpulan LiSA Shaklee saya. Saya insya’Allah akan jadi macam mereka. Orang-orang yang berjaya.

DTX Complex: A Try

I have always never cared about my liver or ‘hati’ in Malay, because in Malaysia we don’t care much for these things unless of course we’re suffering from major health problems. With tasty & gorgeous foods available 24/7/365, we eat all the time! And it doesn’t help that all these tasty foods are mostly oily & fattening.
